What is the difference between  Chiropody and a Podiatry?

Podiatry is the modern term for Chiropody; it is the internationally-recognised name for a foot specialist.  Podiatrists provide comprehensive advice and treatment in all areas of foot health; they are specialists in the way people walk and are able to give advice and treatment on all aspects of foot pathology.

Who Comes to See a Podiatrist?

Many people will visit us for advice or to check their feet are healthy, while others will attend due to a specific problem.  As clinicians, we are particularly interested in preventative medicine and will try and foresee any potential problems, advising and correcting before any damage is done.

We see the majority of our patients every 6-8 weeks for routine maintenance which includes nail cutting, corn removal, hard skin removal and general advice. Our care plans are arranged to suit your needs – keeping you mobile and pain free and in the best of health.

If you have a long-standing problem for which there is no cure, we can play a key role in keeping you mobile and pain free which can make a real difference to the quality of your life.

If your problem is more complex, we can refer you to other specialists – the team here have a great track record of resolving long-term and complex problems.  We have a brilliant multi-disciplinary set up (which is a fancy way of saying that we have the right skills to treat your conditions)!  Our Podiatrists work closely with our Physiotherapists and vice versa to complement the treatments we offer.

A Podiatry / Chiropody appointment lasts for up to 30 minutes and costs £30.

A Biomechanical assessment lasts up to 1 hour and costs £45. Any orthotics required will be charged on top of this amount.

Nail surgery and verruca needling are also available and these procedures cost from £250 for nail surgery and £200 for verruca needling, the price includes all follow up appointments and dressings.
